Ronnie Biggs who had a minor involvement in the Great Train Robbery in 1963 was imprisoned, he became famous after escaping from Wandsworth Prison in 1965. After his escape he fled to France where he underwent plastic surgery to hide his identity and there he stayed for five years, he then moved about a bit going first to Australia, where he was recognized, he moved on but had to skip the country. He went on to Brazil in 1974 which looked to be his last port of call, he was arrested but because he had got a Brazilian pregnant he could not be extradited under Brazilian law. Ronnie Biggs remained in Brazil living life as a celebrity for about 30 years before eventually returning back to England on May 7, 2001 to face his sentence. He is still now in prison, a dying man at the age of 78 and we can't lock up dangerous criminals because our jails are too crowded! It's a disgrace!
